Press Release – Netlift Helps Sun Youth Optimize its Delivery Routes

Montreal, June 17th, 2020 – Over the past few months, Netlift, a company recognized for its expertise in carpooling for commuters, has adapted its route optimization tool in order to provide a new solution to companies and organizations with their own delivery team looking to deliver goods to their customers.

Netlift’s delivery optimization platform is currently available to all shopkeepers. With no geographic restrictions, we were able to cater to businesses located in the Greater Montreal area as well as France . When we heard of the logistical challenges Sun Youth was facing for their deliveries, we quickly offered to partner with them. In a matter of hours, Sun Youth was fully up and running and self-sufficient to start planning their delivery routes.

Sun Youth provides a home delivery service to support families in need, for which they saw a surge in demand during these difficult times. Delivery now being essential, Sun Youth had to deal with several logistical puzzles in order to optimize the precious time of their dedicated volunteers and thus be able to cater to more community members each day.

« When the pandemic struck, Sun Youth had to be responsive. New requests were coming from all around and we had to quickly find ways to protect our clients, staff, and volunteers. Overnight, our home deliveries jumped from 20 to 150 families a day: all were urgent requests for the next day! Each morning, the Delivery Coordinator had to build a dozen routes for our six drivers, the task becoming more complex everyday! Netlift has definitely changed the way we operate and made our lives a lot easier; we are now more efficient and are able to know the status of our deliveries in real-time!” says Eric Kingsley, Director of Emergency Services at Sun Youth.

The delivery solution is very simple: a Sun Youth Delivery Coordinator enters the list of delivery addresses using the Netlift admin account; the volunteer driver assigned to the deliveries uses the Netlift mobile application to follow the optimal route and take into account the set order of  deliveries on said-route. This partnership has allowed the organization to better manage their volunteers’ time and carry out far more deliveries each day since.

Press release: Netlift proposed a tool to optimize delivery for businesses

During the global pandemic, Netlift, which is known for its expertise in daily carpooling, has adapted its route optimization service to support the local economy and offer a solution that makes delivery easier for businesses that want to deliver their products to customers’ homes.  

Netlift’s agility and flexibility were once again proven. In only a few days, the team was able to modify the carpooling and errand-sharing platform in order to present an efficient solution for delivering orders. Netlift’s service was offered and successfully implemented in Montreal where many businesses were able to continue to sell their products in spite of the quarantine. Netlift’s route optimization solution quickly sparked interest on the other side of the ocean. Netlift was contacted by a butcher, Mr. Éric Dulat, in Nevers, France, and put all of the elements into place to make his order deliveries more efficient. 

In just 72 hours, Mr. Dulat had communicated his needs to Netlift, which was able to program everything; then he was trained and up and running to begin his deliveries in no time at all. As of the first day using the solution, he had reduced his delivery time by 50%, which in turn allowed him to increase his online orders by over 22%. 

“I take between 20 and 40 orders per day, either online or via telephone. Deliveries can take four hours on the road each day to distribute my products in Nevers and the agglomeration. Now, Netlift saves me half the time on deliveries and can predict my daily route down to the minute,” explained Mr. Dulat.

Marc-Antoine Ducas, CEO of Netlift, added: “Netlift has specialized in daily carpooling, hygienic transportation and route optimization since 2012. Our team rolled up its sleeves to adapt the platform to support businesses so that we could help them deliver their products to their clients. We are really pleased to be able to contribute to supporting businesses during this trying time for everyone.”

The delivery solution is simple: the merchant enters the deliveries into their Netlift administrator account, the Netlift mobile application is then used by the delivery person so that they can follow the optimal route and know the order in which the deliveries should be made. The delivery person only has to press a button on the app when they leave the business heading towards the first delivery address. When they do, a text message is sent to their client to advise them that their order is on the way. When the parcel is delivered, they press on a button to confirm the delivery and advise that they are on their way to the second address. That client then receives a text message, and so on. 

Depending on the number of orders that need to be delivered and the various vendors’ resources, the Netlift’s route optimization system allows deliveries to be made by volunteers, the vendor or taxi drivers.

Nouveau service de livraison Netlift

Les deux dernières semaines ont été rock ‘n’ roll mais tellement inspirantes! On a décidé de se retrousser les manches et d’adapter notre plateforme en soutien aux commerçants locaux pour les aider dans la livraison de leurs produits à leur clientèle.

Concrètement, ça s’est passé ainsi :

« Hey l’équipe, que diriez-vous de faire de la livraison de colis au lieu du transport de personnes? »

« Hein? »

« On serait capables d’adapter notre plateforme pour y arriver, non? »

« Pourquoi pas! »

Un weekend enfermé à programmer, quelques cafés et de bons cernes plus tard, on a pondu la version « Livraison » de notre plateforme web.

On a lancé l’idée en l’air cette semaine et la réponse du public et des commerçants a été tellement énergisante!!! Merci de tout coeur d’avoir partagé notre message et de nous avoir contacté pour embarquer dans le projet. On est tellement fiers de pouvoir contribuer et aider le monde d’ici à passer à travers la crise.

Toute notre équipe s’est mobilisée et a embarqué dans le projet à pieds joints. Même notre expert en routage est devenu notre meilleur livreur !
